Description
Connect this Filter to a Conveyor loop. Imprint it with an item by dragging the item on top of it. Once imprinted it will filter that item out from the rest.

The GSO Filter is a manufacturing block, useful for sorting chunks in a processing base.

It has 3 Attachment Points, one for every side except the top and sides.

It, like all GSO blocks, can be crafted with a GSO Fabricator.

FiltersDemonstration

A demonstration of usage of filters. This base will sell components and refined chunks and refine then sell unrefined chunks in its GSO Mixed 4-Pack Silo.

Filters are useful for sorting out resource and component chunks in a base. Filters will take instructions about how they should behave. These can be given in two ways:

  • Placing a chunk directly on to a filter will imprint it to that chunk.
  • Using the right-click radial menu allows finer control over which chunks or chunk classes are to be imprinted. These options are:
    • Filter Everything (Infinity icon) = All chunks are imprinted.
    • Filter Specific (Rows of Dot icon) = Whatever chunk you were mousing over when you released right-click is imprinted.
    • Filter Unrefined chunks only (Ore icon) = Only unrefined chunks are imprinted.
    • Filter Refined chunks only (Ingot icon) = Only refined chunks are imprinted.
    • Filter Fuel chunks only (Fire icon) = Only fuel chunks are imprinted.
    • Filter component chunks (Component icon) = ???
    • Filter nothing ("no" icon) = Nothing is imprinted.

Once an item has been imprinted onto a filter, it will actively pull any items fitting its imprint from anything connected to its 'wide' green end and convey it towards its 'narrow' red end, where it will push the chunk onto something if it is able to. Filters will still pull items they have imprinted even if those items are being demanded by a fabricator or component factory connected further down the chain. Filters will not accept an item if they are already holding one, like a normal conveyor.

Filters can only hold one chunk at a time. They will not accept any more until their chunk can be sent somewhere else, which allows another to be admitted.

Filters without an imprint (filter everything) can be used as conveyors that only push forwards; that can't have their chunks pulled off sideways.
