The GeoCorp Girder Block is a structural Standard Block. It weights half as much as a GeoCorp Basic Block, has only half of its health and only 4 Attachment Points on two opposite sides each.
Girder Block is not a meaningfully cheaper compared to Basic Block and there are better option for sturdier lightweight builds, so the main reason to not recycle them into Basic Blocks would be mostly an aesthetic one.
